PAYMENT INFORMATION

What is your Mental Health Worth to You?

OUT OF NETWORK INSURANCE

Most health insurance companies offer Out of Network benefits. This means they will pay a percentage of the fee after you meet your deductible.

Please call your insurance company and ask them the following:

1 - Do I have out of network benefits for mental health outpatient individual visits (90834)?

2 - What percentage of the fee do you pay?

3 - How much is my deductible? (the amount you have to pay before they begin reimbursement)

Using this information, you can calculate the amount you will be responsible for after the insurance company reimburses you. Full fee ($225 per 45 minute session; $275 for 60 minute intake) is expected at time of service. This is a therapeutic decision to eliminate the bill collecting aspect of our relationship. Clients are usually reimbursed by insurances in 2 weeks of submitting their monthly superbill. Please note this is due to the insurance companies practices - not per Dr. Khan's preference.

SELF PAY

Given the limitations of insurance, it could be helpful to pay out of pocket for your therapy. This would be the best option if you would like to have therapy on your terms and can allow a more anti-oppressive, decolonized and liberation style of therapy. Contact Dr. Khan to see if this could work for you.

VALUE OF THERAPY

Because of the stigma of therapy, people often devalue the impact of therapy and use the cost as an excuse to not seek therapy. Of course, there are times that you may truly not be able to afford therapy due to struggling financially. However, for most people, they do not see the value of taking care of their mental health. Yet our mental health is the key to being conventionally successful like at school or work in addition to good interpersonal relationships. More importantly, being happy and fulfilled as well as feeling at peace, strong and stable is priceless.
